Samsung S5P6818 Single Board Computer | Octa-Core Cortex-A53 SBC

Graperain announces the release of the S5P6818 Single Board Computer (SBC). This board is the direct hardware upgrade for the S5P4418 SBC, maintaining the same 100.66mm x 68.8mm dimensions and pin definition. The hardware transition from quad-core to octa-core allows developers to increase processing performance without redesigning existing carrier hardware or enclosures.

Hardware Specifications and Octa-Core CPU

The S5P6818 SBC integrates the Samsung S5P6818 processor based on the ARM Cortex-A53 architecture. It features eight cores clocked at 1.4GHz. The standard memory configuration includes 1GB DDR3 RAM and 8GB eMMC flash. For high-end applications, a 2GB RAM version is customizable. Power management is handled by the AXP228 PMU, supporting 5V DC input and lithium battery management.

Onboard Display and Multimedia Interfaces

The board provides multiple display output options including HDMI, VGA, LVDS, and MIPI-DSI. These interfaces support high-resolution panels used in industrial HMI and medical displays. For camera input, the board retains the BT601/BT656 interface. Multimedia capabilities are further supported by an integrated hardware video codec for smooth playback and processing.

Network and Connectivity Features

Connectivity includes a Gigabit Ethernet port (Realtek RTL8211E PHY) and an onboard WiFi/Bluetooth 4.0 two-in-one module. Standard I/O includes 2x USB Host, 1x USB OTG, and 2x TF card slots. Engineering headers provide access to UART, SPI, I2C, and ADC. UART0 is dedicated as the system debugging port for terminal access.

Operating System Support and SDK

The S5P6818 SBC supports Android 5.1, Linux, and Ubuntu. Graperain provides the complete Board Support Package (BSP), including kernel source code and cross-compilation tools. Since the S5P6818 is software-compatible with the S5P4418 series, most existing drivers and applications can be migrated with minimal adjustments. The product is available now for industrial and commercial embedded projects.
