S5P6818 System on Module Released – Compact High-Performance Embedded Solution

Graperain has introduced the Samsung S5P6818 System on Module for embedded and industrial applications. The module is intended for system integrators and OEM customers seeking a stable hardware platform with flexible expansion capability.

Based on the Samsung S5P6818 application processor, the module integrates an octa-core ARM Cortex-A53 CPU, with all eight cores operating at up to 1.4 GHz. This architecture provides balanced computing performance and power efficiency for embedded systems designed for long-term operation.

The S5P6818 System on Module adopts a stamp-hole form factor with a 184-pin interface, allowing engineers to integrate the module into custom carrier boards while keeping hardware design complexity under control. With a compact size of approximately 52 mm × 52 mm, the module is suitable for space-constrained embedded products.

An 8-layer PCB with immersion gold finish is used to improve signal integrity and overall reliability, which is particularly important in industrial environments where electromagnetic stability and thermal performance are key design considerations.

Standard configurations include 1 GB DDR3 memory and 8 GB onboard eMMC storage. Optional configurations support up to 2 GB DDR3 and 16 GB eMMC, enabling customers to select memory and storage combinations based on application requirements without modifying the core hardware design.

The module provides a comprehensive set of interfaces for display and peripheral expansion. Supported display outputs include LVDS, RGB, and TFT, with resolutions up to 2048 × 1280 at 60 Hz, making the module suitable for human-machine interfaces and graphical control panels.

In addition, the S5P6818 System on Module supports Gigabit Ethernet, USB, serial communication, audio, and camera interfaces, allowing it to serve as the core computing unit for a wide range of embedded systems.

To support efficient system development, the S5P6818 System on Module is compatible with Linux-based operating systems and Android platforms. This software support helps reduce system bring-up time and provides developers with a familiar environment for application development and deployment.
